Looking back, recording and witnessing as long as 45 years, the pilots in standardization undertakings have gone through 4 phases of development, and have drawn with their wisdom and dedication a combatant trail representing that CESI has been growing and improving.

Phase I(1963-1978): Initiating Phase
CESI was founded in July 1963. CESI established the management system, working mechanism and technical system for standardization initially, and became the centralized management authority for technical coordination and professional review in standardization activities.

Phase II(1979-1992): Growing Phase

The participation in international standardization activities was resumed, the work for the overall application of international standards and advanced foreign standards was carried forward.

The integrated standardization was put into practice in association with the development of important types to ensure supporting work in place.

CESI established common technical testing laboratories such as ones for safety, EMC, Packing and calibration were set up in CESI, and standards evaluation and mediation services were provided by CESI to the society.

The capital construction was strengthened and a new building for scientific and technical research was put in operation.

Phase III(1993-2003): Expanding Phase
Advantage position has been formed by the provision of integrated services of standards development, measurement, testing, certification and services. CESI successfully supported the construction of the important national informationization projects such as Golden-Bridge, Golden-Custom, Golden-Card and Integrated Electronics Information System.

Phase IV（2003-present) Exploring Phase
For government, CESI primarily acts as industry support platform and undertakes the national key standardization projects.
For market, CESI serves enterprises and encourages them to develop standards covering self-initiated technologies.
The Yi-Zhuang Science Park has been put in operation. CESI has made a great progress in the environment and capability of research and development.
